Safa's Whimsical Lavender Room

When designing Safa’s new room after we moved, Safa had a lot to say. Unlike me, Safa loves bright colors and all things girly. She loves purple so I wanted to take her favorite color and put a whimsical twist on it. I decided to make the room white and gray with hints of purple throughout the room. I want her room to be her sanctuary so I wanted to keep it pretty minimal and not too busy.

  1. Bed

I am in love with Safa’s bed! I was looking for a white toddler bed but I didn’t want to buy something that would only last a short time. I found this bed at IKEA. Its affordable and the best part its extendable! They also sell a mattress that has has extendable pieces. I love how simple and functional it is. I chose this gray bedding set from the H&M Home collection. I got the side table from amazon as a set of two nesting tables. The other one is my side table. This adorable lamp was a perfect addition to her side table from Target. Her name sign was from when she was first born. I bought it in natural wood from Etsy and painted it pink previously and then changed it to lavender for her new room.

  2. Curtains

I love the natural light in her room and wanted to choose curtains that complimented that. I chose white curtains and on two of the of the windows added purple sheer ones for a pop.

  3. Dresser & Organization
I’ve had this IKEA dresser for years and its perfect for babies and toddlers. I used it as a changing table and dresser when they were babies and now as a dresser. In the top drawer I have her undergarments, socks and hair accessories. Her second drawer has her pajamas and t-shirts and her bottom drawer has all her pants and jeans. I used the IKEA drawer organizers which are perfect for kids clothing. I accessorized with a simple I love you more sign and mirror from Hobby Lobby. Safa added her touch with a purple Melissa and Doug jewelry box.

  4. Rug
I was on a the hunt for a perfect rug for the longest time. I wanted a hint of lavender but nothing too bright but still keeping it girly. I fell in love with this one from pottery barn and when it went on sale I had to get to get it!

  5. Reading Nook
My favorite part of her room! Safa has loved books since a baby and Alhamdulilah continues to love reading them. If it was up to her, we would read 10 books a night. I wanted to create a safe and calming corner for her when she wants to relax or cool down. I bought the canopy from amazon and added pillows on the bottom. Safa of course had to add a Frozen Pillow. Next to it, I have most of her books in a crate. The crate was a gift from our friends who personally made it for her when she was born. I used picture ledges from IKEA to display some of her favorite books. These ledges are so easy to install and are very affordable.

  6. Decor
I created this Pom Pom Garland myself by buying pom poms from Etsy and then then stringing it together with thread. Super easy and you get to choose your own colors! A.C Moore also sells packets of different colored pom poms. Near the bookshelf, I found a cute sign at hobby lobby that I had to have in her room which reads: be kind, be brave and be silly! Lastly, I got the height banner from H&M. A fun way to track how much she grows without ruining the walls.
