A Unicorn 3rd Birthday Party

This year I threw my daughter the simplest and easiest birthday ever. I may have in the past overdone it with Pinterest and themes, but this year I decided to change that. We went to Target together and she picked out her own theme and her decor. Of course, I and some input to bring it all together but I let her lead the whole thing. All the decor and party favors came out to under $150! During the day I took her and a few friends to an indoor play place (oh winter!) and then had a small party at home with our families and closest friends. The best part was to see the smile on her face and how much she continues to talk about it, even today!

Birthday parties these days are over the top, excessive and really tough on our bank accounts. I really want her to find joy in spending time with her loved ones and doing activities— not how flashy her party is and how many gifts she got. Long lasting happiness is the quality in our relationships and company, not in the quantity of people who come. Let’s give our children memories to cherish forever, not materialistic items that will always leave them for wanting more.
